The number of sessions needed depends on each individual`s unique needs. Brief interventions typically require 6-12 sessions, while those seeking a deeper journey of self-acceptance and personal growth can benefit from longer-term support, often through a humanistic or existential approach.
Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are held once a week. If more or less intensive treatment is needed, the session length and frequency can be adjusted. Progress is regularly reviewed to ensure your goals are being met.
You have complete control over the counselling process and are free to discontinue treatment at any time.
During the first session, a comprehensive intake assessment will be conducted, including a semi-structured evaluation. The goal of this session is to assess your strengths, vulnerabilities, and potential symptoms, and to create an appropriate treatment plan.
This session also provides an opportunity for both the psychologist and the client to meet, get to know each other, and decide on the next steps after forming an initial impression.
It`s completely natural to feel nervous or unsure about seeking help for your difficulties, especially if you`ve never attended therapy before. I understand this, as I am also someone’s client and know how challenging it can be to start the process. I will guide you through it, exploring these challenges in a safe and supportive way. By the end of the session, I will provide you with some treatment options, and you can decide whether you`d like to continue with therapy.
When you book an appointment, that time is reserved exclusively for you and cannot be offered to others. Therefore, please provide at least 48 hours` notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours` notice (or in the case of a no-show), the full fee will be charged. I understand that mistakes can happen, so I don’t apply this policy to the first missed session.
